Vid rec

I've been watching a lot of vids today and I'm just in an amazing mood right now. I should, of course, be studying for exams, but this vid is just too amazing. I started re-watching Life because of it and now I have even more super distracting things to do.

(original post here)

I am just not in the mood to do anatomy at all, I just want to re-watch things and watch new awesome things and just roll around in the awesome that is fandom forever.
The whole campus is filled with signs for some kind of faith-based event and it just got me thinking about religion and why I don't think I want to believe in anything. I guess I do believe in some things, I very badly want to believe in justice most importantly, but sometimes the world makes that a very difficult thing to do.

The thing that I don't understand is why people want to believe that there's some divine being making things around us happen and judging us. I mean, what's the appeal in imagining life as a mixture of the Sims and reality television? To be honest, I don't really want to believe in an eternal soul because that just sounds exhausting. Why not just accept that we have what we have. The only thing that has the slightest chance of living on after we die are the ripple we leave through other people, the lives we've touched and the things we did or built or created. There's nothing waiting for us, so why spend your life waiting? Why not just start living now and see where that takes you? Live your life the best you can and that's the only thing you can do. Try and do as much good as possible, love as much as you can and be as happy as you can bear. Honestly, that's what churches should be preaching instead of telling people what they should do with their bodies and their private decisions.
